Project Realize Staff


Mark D. Smaller, Ph.D., Founding Director of Project Realize, formerly the Analytic Service to Adolescents Program (ASAP).  He is currently President-elect of the American Psychoanalytic Association.  Dr. Smaller is also the Founding Director of Great Expectations, an in-school counseling program at Saugatuck High School in southwest Michigan.
Dr. Smaller practices adult and child psychoanalysis and psychotherapy in Chicago and Southwest Michigan, and serves on the faculties of the Chicago Institute for Psychoanalysis, and the Institute for Clinical Social Work. He is immediate past Director of the Neuropsychoanalysis Foundation in New York, and serves on the Board of the American Psychoanalytic Foundation.  Dr. Smaller holds a M.A. and Ph.D. in social work from the University of Chicago, and is graduate of the Adult, Child and Adolescent Psychoanalysis program at the Chicago Institute for Psychoanalysis.
Dr. Smaller received the 2008 Distinguished Service Award by the American Psychoanalytic Association.

paige bartley

Paige Bartley, M.A.,  is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.  She has a B.F.A from University of Illinois, and a M.A. in social work from the University of Chicago.  Her previous experience included domestic violence counseling at Sarah’s Inn Domestic Violence Agency, psychotherapist at Pillars (formerly the Fillmore Center for Human Services in Berwyn, Illinois) and served as Director of Screening, Assessment and Support Services at Fillmore.  Mrs. Bartley was a Fellow at the Chicago Institute for Psychoanalysis.
